Stockholm School of Economics IFL Executive Education ranked best in Nordic/Baltic Region
Each year the Financial Times ranks the world’s best executive education providers offering different forms of management and leadership development programs.
Today the Financial Times published its annual ranking of the world’s best providers of executive education. This ranking is the most prestigious ranking of executive education providers published by an independent paper. In the overall ranking of executive education providers, SSE IFL Executive Education was ranked as 38th best in the world and first in the Nordic/Baltic region.
SSE IFL continues to dominate as the leader in the Nordic/Baltic executive education market. During 2009, the year evaluated in the ranking, IFL has focused on improving its offerings to senior management with increased development of e-learning, sharper program design, and an increased focus on meeting the needs of the client. “We believe that executive education development is increasingly important for our clients. There is a growing interest for education supporting strategic business development, so we are focusing on meeting the needs of our clients,” said Peter Hägglund, CEO of SSE IFL.
As an example of how executive education can drive strategic business development, the Financial Times focuses, in the special report accompanying the ranking, on SSE IFL’s program with Russian Railways (RZD). SSE IFL has been working with Russian Railways, Russia’s biggest employer with a 1.2 million-strong workforce, since 2008.
Peter Hägglund, CEO of IFL, said, “SSE IFL is proud to be ranked once again among 20 of Europe’s finest business schools for the 11th year in a row. I feel that this placement is confirmation of the success of our corporate mission to develop individuals and drive growth. SSE IFL will continue to play an important role for companies that require world class education and development.”
Stockholm School of Economics participates in the Financial Times ranking of the world’s top executive education providers through Stockholm School of Economics IFL Executive Education in Sweden, Norway, Finland and its activities in Russia (SSE Russia) and in the Baltic States (SSE Riga). In the 2010 Financial Times combined ranking of open and custom programs, SSE IFL placed 38th in the world.

About the Financial Times ranking
The Financial Times conducts an annual survey of the best business schools, universities and other institutions offering different forms of management and leadership development programs. These are evaluated using ten criteria combined with comprehensive surveys of participants, program purchasers and quantitative information provided by the ranked organizations. The focus of the ranking is on the perceived quality of the educational program measured by criteria including aims achieved, program design and new skills and learning. Other dimensions measured include international faculty, international participants, gender of faculty and participants, as well as teaching materials and methods.
The ranking is presented in the form of three different lists accompanied by a Special Report summarizing recent and noteworthy developments in the field of executive education. The three different ranking lists consist of an open program ranking, a custom program ranking, and a combined score. The Financial Times evaluates hundreds of executive education providers with information provided by participants and clients within executive education.
